1.
Hung from the trees, their body long deceased Their eyes guide their finger, soon their gaze malingers Ripped from the still night by the neon floodlights To flesh remains but their beating heart and veins The steel that binds us, fluorescent bulbs that blind us, The crumbs on the floor, and the draft beneath the door Are less than the stare of the one who is not there Hear the clank of their chained feet on the cracked concrete
2.
It's my aptitude, and you You've got two When the needle drops we bop far away When the needle drops we bop far away When the needle drops we bop far away too I don't know a thing About pro wrestling Crossing the avenue, walking the mall Reaching the monument standing so tall I ask you your name, you answer the same And reply that both of us are to blame To blame for all our consequences To blame for all our second guesses To blame for being one and never more For

Ladies and gentlemen, we're gathered today To fight to preserve the American Way To subjugate tyranny from whence it appeared Unless we're not done come the next fiscal year What should we do? What should we do? We'll have to Retire the offices, lock up the gates Close up the departments, shut down the state Suspend our employees indefinitely Because we all cannot and will not agree So please take your time, take weekends off too Take Senate lunch and recess for a few To compromise would be to admit defeat, So on with the stalemate; stay off your feet! We do not know; we cannot say When and how our schools will be paid But we can tell you safely assured Our own salaries are well secured Safely assured Our salaries are well secured Safely assured Our salaries are well secured

What we did was very bad It made me very, very sad What we did was bad, it made me very sad, And I don't understand why you're so glad Come and cover me Come and cover me Come and cover me We are never free You know you're very, very bad It drives me absolutely mad You know that you're bad, and it drives me mad, And I don't understand why you're so glad

Petrichor 02:40
I will endure you I will endure you I think you would be more beautiful if I never, ever knew you If I knew you I'd undo you Do you ever feel like The world comes crashing down In one great big wave? It descends; you will end It was a tortured life It blew away like sand It gets pockmarked like old rocks and stones Sinking into the mire of the wetland I fall asleep I will wake too soon as before To the petrichor

Keep Us Free 03:16
If you're feeling up to snuff in this lifetime make a kick I know what will make you stick To the righteous and the sick And the disenfranchised hicks Of the day, and you can go away To the marble halls and money balls of our ivory tower Where they pass bills by the hour Through arbiters most dour Who've become numb to the powers Of the day, and you can slave away To keep us free And secure our history We're in need See your nation bleed I come through beat black and blue by poor philosophies So I deliver my plea: "Sir, can you please think for me?" You of esteemed pedigree For today, you can slave away And I don't need a license plate to do the things I do And I don't need a socialist state or a communist revue It doesn't matter where or when and it doesn't matter who It only matters what you're selling and what you're going to do It's all up to you

Beneath the summer leaves, the end is nearing And I believe what I'm most fearing I think I love you but I probably don't I think I'll miss you but I probably won't Would you care to kiss me softly Once or two times over coffee? Discussing life in books and tea Until at last, the summer's past and you're free What have I got myself into now, Thinking about you undressed? Though I would never behave untrue, My thoughts are muddled, I confess Thinking about you undressed, My thoughts are muddled, I confess Is thinking untrue bad as being untrue as the rest? Beneath the summer leaves, the end is nearing And I believe what I'm most fearing I think I love you but I probably don't I think I'll miss you but I probably won't Would you care to kiss me softly Once or two times over coffee? Discussing life in birds and tea Until at last, the summer's past and you're free I fear you captured my heart abroad Three thousand miles from home With wit that could scissor my brain in two In your watercolors I roamed Three thousand miles from home, In your watercolors I roamed The rain soaked me through and I mired my feet in the loam

I am weathered and tired, feeling so lonely You are my best friend, my one and only Sophisticated and kind, I think you're awfully fine Do you think we could ever work out? Do you think I could be your girl? Give my tired old bones something to hold It is not easy raising a kid by myself Dried up and washed out, I feel I've been put on the shelf Though you are distant too, I reckon you will still do Do you think we could ever work out? Do you think I could be your love? I've been so empty inside since my husband died You are my Humbert You are my man I put my heart on my sleeve I don't ever want you to leave Though you are shy and you want to hide, I love you and I know you love me too I am weathered and tired, feeling so lonely You are my best friend, my one and only Though you are distant too, I reckon you will still do

about

On the mall with a pallid tincture,
among the trees where the tourists tinker
with clumsy hands and weathered cameras
landscapes, portraits, and panoramas too

Inside the hallways of marble and lyme, the afternoon sunlight filters through the dome, keeping time

Midday yields to a twinkling twilight,
a rally gathers outside near midnight
They share vignettes in lira voce
The vote upon the Floor approaches
after months of gridlock waiting,
weeks of replace-and-repeal debating,
the second hand strikes the second hour;
from C-Span we watch the tower fall

and all is silent on the National Mall
